I had just returned from a 7 day shoot in Antigua and Barbuda with the Voyager crew. It was more first production with them, and my first time directing a travel show. I was nervous, but also confident that given enough time, I could find the right rhythm and tone for the piece. I had begun editing the show with the expectation of finishing the edit and then waiting to see if I would get another call. So goes this wild and crazy industry of visual storytelling. One is only as good as their last project.
So when my phone rang at 6:30am one morning and Farook told me to pack my bags, I’m directing 3 episodes in Morocco over 15 days in 10 different cities… I about lost it. I think i had about 8 days to get up to speed, research the country and cities we would visit, and help to define the creative approach.
The trip was a defining moment in my life both professionally and personally.
